Bayte opened on Johnston St in Collingwood mid last year. It serves modern Lebanese influenced food and I really enjoyed my first visit. I had fish with green beans and yogurt and my girlfriend had the kibbe samak nayeh – raw tuna with labne and salad.

Eat drink and be merry and Poppet’s window both recommend Bayte and I can see why – it is charming as well as satisfying. We finished our meal by sharing briki coffee and the pancakes with fresh figs, which was wonderful. Bayte may be not highly visible as it is off the Smith St strip but it’s close by and well worth seeking out.

One of our favourites, but it has apparently also closed recently (phone is disconnected). I’m hoping someone will tell me they have just re-located.
