A commenter asked recently if I knew anything about the former Sala Thai premises on Brunswick St, which has been empty for over a year, and which has seen squatting and fire damage make it an unappealing commercial property. I was curious to learn that renovations were underway inside despite it still appearing to be available for lease. This is what it looked like inside last weekend.

There looks to be some cutting-edge street art on the wall to the right. Is that ‘Seen’ or ‘Phase2’ perhaps? Better get in and scrape that bugger off as it might be worth millions!

On the way back from getting the paper this morning I asked one of the guys doing the refurb what was going in. The answer was nothing, that it was just being brought up to scratch in order to be leased…

Given the fire and the terrible appearance of the building, that makes sense.
