I moved from North Fitzroy and stopped spending time at the former Glitch bar and cinema long before it closed, but I was still sad when I learned that it had closed last year. It’s taken me about a year to get around to eating at its replacement, Long Play, and I was very impressed with my meal and the ambiance of the space. With a friend I shared the trevally ceviche, broad bean salad and semolina gnocchi.

Each is an impressive dish. The ceviche was very fresh and succulent, with jalapino and pomegranate. We loved the riesling and pinot noir available by the glass, and we had to have a piece of chocolate cake each. And they’re open on a Monday night, when few other nearby places are. I’ll be back.

If you need somewhere quiet for a few drinks and conversation, Long Play is superb between 6 and 7pm. So much to love about this place – I totally understand why that gnocchi never leaves the menu…
