After seeing the Vienna art and design exhibition yesterday at the NGV (very good, but not quite amazing, with the Schiele works the best of it), I was thinking of again watching the biopic of Klimt starring John Malkovich (which also features a depiction of Schiele). As I like films about artists, despite their annoying tendency to be excessively and unnecessarily historically inaccurate, this soon expanded to thinking about the biographical films about artists I have previously enjoyed. I recommend all of these to you despite their historical flaws: Klimt, Modigliani, Frida, Basquiat, Camille Claudel and Artemisia.

Obviously this needs a quote from Rodney Dangerfield’s Back to School. How’s life in teh Fitz these days?

    Mr. Melon, your wife
was just showing us her Klimt.

You too, huh? She’s showin’ it
    to everybody.

    – She’s very proud of it.
    – I’m proud of mine, too.

    I don’t wave it around
    at parties.
