I may have to abandon this series of recommendation posts as I’m not finding the extent of content I did a year ago. Is blogging in decline? I believe it is, particularly so since most people are not technically minded and find it easier to use Twitter and Facebook to create and share content without the hassle of managing a platform. Sadly this is all I have for you this month:

We’re still cranking them out for you Brian.

I think twitter in particular is taking up a lot of the energy that would previously have been focussed on blogging – there’s still seemingly endless numbers of food blogs out there though.

Thanks Michael! Yours are all in the local news sites, and in these posts I’ve tried to gather up the rest, such as the new bloggers who aren’t tagging their writing or who need some encouragement.

Well in that case – maybe your meta-data evangelism has worked, everyone’s tagging nicely and your local news sites have captured the Fitzroy scene. :-)

(As an aside, I definitely noticed a decline in food blogging frequency ~2 years ago when many participants took up twitter. Facebook food ‘blogging’ might be on the rise more recently.)

I wish! I rarely find new sites that I can add to the local news site because tagging is declining. I think the ease of use of simpler blogging platforms like Tumblr, and the use of Twitter and Facebook, are more appealing to beginners. Only the more dedicated or technically proficient are drawn to use more complex platforms.

Hi Brian I reckon there are some great emerging blogs still but do see your point. You may have gone cold on me but I for one am one of those great emerging blogs and am getting terrific feedback. I do miss you liking me though, call it ego or call it what you will! Thanks for being the best advocate in Fitzroy and for the early leg up.
