I read Cindy and Michael’s review of the newish Cinema Nova bar with great interest, as I had not been to the Nova for some time and didn’t know it had been created. I wanted a light meal, and chose the creamy zucchini soup, which is served with bagel crisps, and a mushroom croquette because they sounded so delicious in Where’s the beef. Both were most enjoyable, as was my glass of Blackbilly tempranillo (McLaren Vale).

I think this bar has great potential. I was there on a quietish early Sunday evening. I can imagine it full to bursting prior to one of the Friday or Saturday late films.

Isn’t great to have this kind of space to hang out before or after a movie? We returned for a Sunday evening pre-movie cocktail recently. The quality food is a huge bonus.

I can only hope that they’re attracting enough people to stay afloat! It was pretty quiet when we visited too.

I was there last night. Love the bar, and the tapas are usually good. The bar was full, unlike my prior visits.
The bar manager left us with a very unpleasant feeling though. They currently have an offer : you purchase a glass of red wine and you get a free tapas + a free movie ticket for your next visit. We were both interested in that offer, and asked if we would get two ticket. Lovely waitress confirmed that we would each get a free movie ticket and a free tapas with our glass of wine.
She left me to pay the bill with the bar manager who gave me only one ticket… I requested a 2d ticket having purchased 2 wines… But was told rather aggressively that it was one ticket per transaction. So next time, I will hand out half the cash to my partner, who will pay for his wine and we will get 2 tickets. How plain stupid…

Now that’s rather silly of them – ruining the point of running a promotion to encourage return visits.
