Fifty years ago, many streets in Fitzroy were drab rows of masonry. Now they’re filled with greenery. In continuing this series of then and now comparisons, it is evident that the introduction of street trees is one of the most significant features of latter twentieth century urban planning. Sometimes, however, it makes replicating photos impossible because surviving landmarks are hidden behind rows of trees.
