This photo c1927 show the North Fitzroy Fire Station on the corner of St.Georges Rd and Park St, North Fitzroy. Constructed in 1912, it replaced an earlier timber fire station on the same site in 1888. It’s now the front for a large apartment building.

    i also remember the unemployed workers union squatted in the building in the 1980s

    Even more ironic – I worked in Taplin Street in the early 90’s, at which point the fire station was derelict, due to… fire damage!
