I walked past the Robert Burns hotel on Smith St Collingwood the other day and noticed it was closed with the windows newspapered over. Has it closed? It has seemed in decline. Years ago the food was good but on my last visit six months ago it would have been charitable to describe the food as mediocre.

robertburns what's happening at the Robert Burns hotel on Smith St?

I vaguely recall someone mentioning it being on the market last year.

Thanks – I did not know that. Perhaps that means it will become something new?

The Spanish owners sold the business a year or two ago. So if the Spanish food is not as good, that maybe why. Would be a pity if it went.

This may explain why the food was so terrible 6 months ago – it was not made by the Spanish owners.

not to worry every one the hotel has undergone a major clean out and tidy up and a bit of a facelift.
we have also found 3 guys from spain to run the venue and cook as well.
we have added a brand new courtyard and we are so excited we cant wait to open.
