In 1913 there was an explosion at 83 Brunswick Street, which was believed to have been caused by a gas leak. The buildings were evidently rebuilt in a similar style as today the streetscape appears the be all the same age, with 83 being the home of the Penny Rose Boutique and 85 being the home of the Rhombus surf shop. 81 has long since been replaced by the North Yarra Community Health Centre.
