The lovely owners of Juanita’s latin cafe on Brunswick St have sold the business, which currently has a ‘closed for renovations’ sign in the window. I’m very sad about this as it has been one of my favourite cafes in Fitzroy, and I have lost count of how many times I have been there. It was my regular Saturday morning coffee, they made the best churros and served wonderful Portugese tarts. I don’t know what the new owners plan to do with the property, but even if they continue with the same name and style it won’t be the same.

What a shame – we only just discovered their dinner options. It never quite generated the buzz it deserved – I wonder why?

I don’t know – I always thought they had something unique on Brunswick St, and while they were busy some times they deserved to be busy all the time.

No!!!!!! This is the place that started my love affair with baked eggs! Guess I’ll just have to make my own… and I liked their pastrys/sweets too. Sad.

I was so devastated when this closed down – it was by far my favourite restaurant in Melbourne.

I haven’t had any luck finding a replacement either! :-(

Extremely disappointed to hear that Juanita’s has closed. It was my favourite cafe with the best churros I have ever tasted! No other place will even come close :(
