Retro cafe on Brunswick St has closed owing more than $26,000 rent to their landlord. Expect this space to be empty for some time before the owner finds a new tenant.

Wow, imagine the money they would have owed their poor wait staff.

Whoah. I’ve often wondered how they stayed afloat with such stiff competition in the neighbourhood. It seems they weren’t.

The last time I went there (over a year ago) it was bloody awful. Not a patch on how it used to be. It is a fantastic location, with a great function (or band) room upstairs and tables in the sun. Can’t wait to see what a new owner makes of it.

woah! i only went there a little while ago and it was still awesome food & coffee, but the staff seemed a little dispirited – i thought it was just Fitzroy cafe attitude, but maybe not :-( It will be missed.

A new manager took over 12 months ago and drove it into the ground chaging The only thing that was great about the place the happy our and happy staff. For seven years I enjoyed sipping cider in the sun. Very very sad indeed.
