Two businesses on Brunswick St don’t want to employ men, only women. Can they also display their EEO exemptions in their windows please? Don’t have one? Didn’t think so. I think the Noodle Palace at 328 Brunswick Street (bottom) and the Alchemist at 361 Brunswick St (top) should reconsider their employment ads.

Maybe they already already employed their male waitstaff and just want some balance.

That’s not allowed – you’re supposed to employ on merit.

I can think of a number of businesses in Fitzroy that hire predominantly (good-looking) women, one bakery, bookshop and perfumer in particular, these though seem to have the nous not to display these biases in their window ads. This kind of sexism is, disappointingly, very common in the service industry.
