I suppose the point is that access to clean water is or should be a human right, but the harsh reality is that water is a commodity. We are partially to blame for allowing drinks companies to buy water out of public dams ridiculously cheap to turn into expensive bottled water. We fund the profits of bottled water companies with our stupidity and complacency.

    And don’t forget the privatisation of our water supplies…the handing over of public wealth in the form of infrastructure to the private sector, subsidised by the tax payer, therefore reallocating the wealth of the majority to the greedy minority who can then go on to make a mint at our expense….a classic case of taking the piss. I think that may be the commodification that the poster is referring too.
