In October last year I reported on a tv show filming outside the Black Cat on Brunswick St. I was told by someone that it was for the police action drama Rush, but someone commented that it was for a show called Offspring. I asked for more information, but none was forthcoming. I forgot about it until I saw some tweets last weekend.

Mikeyinmelbs wrote that ‘Ten is producing a new drama set in #Fitzroy ala Secret Life of Us (that last bit I’m assuming)…’ and Clubwah responded by saying ‘The new TV show set in Fitzroy will be called The Pretentious Life of Us’. Amused and curious, I did some more research and learned that this show is Offspring, which will screen this year. I liked Secret Life at the time, and I wonder how Offspring will represent Fitzroy?

I think this is the same show that spent most of a day shooting in Radio on Gertrude Street. It’ll be fun to play spot the location even if the show isn’t super exciting.

They did at least a weeks worth of shooting on gore st not far from the back of safeway as well, in a new renovated looking house. I rode past some mornings when they were shooting, I might even make it as an extra!

They were shooting this morning in King William St, just near the church. Some production assistants came in this morning and ordered 13 coffees at Newtown…

I managed to pick up some work as an extra. How’s that for authentic Fitzroy dweller cast :P. Black Cat here I come!

Re the long awaited Offspring debut last night:
As per Michael’s earlier comment, it was fun playing spot the location, but the show wasn’t terribly exciting

Agreed! I watched about 15 minutes and gave up in disdain. Insipid fare for princesses. I couldn’t wait for the motorcycle racing to start on another channel…
