Blue Moon world music on Johnston St has closed. I get the feeling the west end of Johnston St is getting a bit scruffy and unloved. There seem to be more and more ‘for lease’ signs around.

Indeed. Panic, the clothing/screen printing store, closed recently too.

Still, there seem to be a few long-standing restaurants – Colmao Flamenco, Los Amates, Houndstooh.

That’s a shame, Johnston St loses a little of its colour. Any idea if they’ve relocated or was it more an end of lease scenario?

I’m guessing an end of lease departure, and there is no new premises notice displayed in the window. If not end of lease, end of physical media may be responsible as many people now get their music online (legitimitely or otherwise).

Went into Blue Moon last week and was very dismayed to find it closed.
Another person had also gone there ealier in the day and cried in his distress.
I cannot locate Alf from there anywhere.
Now I have to get all DVDs and CDs from Spain and other overseas locations online.
The area could easily be converted into a Spanish and other ethcic flavors in company with the existing Spanish restaurants.
