After EatDrinkBlog – the Australian food bloggers conference, the participants left Prahran for South Melbourne, where we enjoyed cocktails and dinner at St Ali. Matt from Abstract Gournet has posted a set of wonderful photos and you can also see everything tagged EatDrinkBlog on Flickr. The evening began with cocktails supplied by Richmond bar Der Raum and viewing the food photography exhibition, where Lisa Dempster photographed her beetroot cocktail as I photographed mine.
Celeste from Travelling in Mary Janes has photos that are inifinitely better than mine, so I’ll leave it to her to describe dinner. I refused to eat the fish eye, but most of the meal was excellent and the wine was lovely.
The precious Sydney food bloggers who expected to have their flights and accommodation paid for (this was refused) to attend are hopefully regretting their greed and selfishness this week as they sit at home reading the positive reviews of the conference.
It’s not about how much free stuff you can accumulate from sponsors. It’s about being social, networking with your peers and enjoying the hobby of food blogging. Melbourne’s DIY arts and community culture beats Sydney’s inappropriate sense of entitlement. Suffer in your freebie jocks princesses!
