I’m in favour of the speed limit being reduced to 40km/h in Fitzroy’s back streets, as recommended by the City of Yarra. Some drivers in Fitzroy are too fast and too aggressive in narrow back streets that are also heavily used by pedestrians and cyclists. This does not apply to main streets, which are controlled by the state government, but some of these already have speed limits (such as 40km/h for Johnston and Brunswick streets). All in favour? All against?

In favour. I ride through there frequently on bike, and don’t own a car, so it’s a no-brainer here…

Forty is good for real back streets and Brunswick and Smith Streets. Fifty for Gertrude Street. Sixty for Johnston Street. In some areas there could be other fifty streets, but not really in Fitzroy.

The 40kmp/h on Johnston is necessary I think – if only the police would put some speed cameras there to catch all the retards still doing 60.
