A new development of loft style offices and/or apartments on the south end of Smith St, called the Smith St lofts, was open for inspection on the weekend of 14-15 March to exhibit the art commissioned as part of the development. RMIT fine art students were commissioned to produce a range of artworks that will be owned by the body corporate and permanently displayed in the corridors of the building.

I was intrigued and impressed by the work and the concept, which the developer Peter talked me through. The outstanding work in my opinion is this statue of telephone inventor Alexander Graham Bell, by Carmen Reid, made with steel wool.
