I’m as interested in the recent social history of Fitzroy as I am of its early years in the nineteenth century. In some ways evidence of the late twentieth century seems less available than evidence from previous eras. This 1989 silkscreen printed poster is a rare exception. It advertises a ‘Continental’ evening of dance and drink at Shenanigans on Brunswick St (where Madame Sousou is now). Does anyone remember Shenanigans?
