I wrote two months ago about how Yarra Council was considering building a new North Fitzroy Library on the grounds of Edinburgh Gardens and why I oppose this. In October the Council voted 5-4 in favour of making this their preferred proposal (Socialist Party Steve Jolly and the Greens against), despite most residents disagreeing with it. The Leader reports on the issue and suggests that Library supporters are in favour of the proposal.

The area needs a bigger library, but sacrificing park space to achieve it is stupid, short sighted, short term political laziness at its worst. In the forthcoming election, vote for a candidate that will represent your views about the North Fitzroy Library. Join the Facebook group and make your voice heard however you can!
