Update 14 July 2008: thanks to Kym at the Gertrude Association I have made contact with the Fitzroy historical society and will attend their July meeting.

I’ve just found out about the existence of the Fitzroy historical society. They don’t have a website, so I’ve contacted them to see if they want one, and if I can help set one up. You can download their February 2008 newsletter (96kb PDF). Their contact details are:

P.O.Box 180
Fitzroy 3065
fitzroyhistorysociety@yahoo.com.au (this doesn’t work, and they don’t know if they are a dot com or dot com dot au.

The story is similar with the Fitzroy Residents Association, which has an old site that needs attention. I’ve also emailed them to volunteer (and have received no response). I’m keen to connect disparate community groups and activites better through the interweb. If anyone has information that could assist, please get in touch!

I have just tried to contact them too. The email bounced and a SMTP & DNS test reveals that their email address appears to be invalid.

Yes they don’t seem interested in doing any marketing or community consulation or attracting any new members.
