community-grocer-1 The Community Grocer opens in Fitzroy

The Community Grocer is a non-profit green grocer committed to providing affordable fruit and veg to everyone based on the idea that access to fresh food is a right and a healthy community is one where everyone has food justice.

After running in the Carlton public housing estates for 2 years, the Community Grocer opened their market on Tuesday 28 March and will be open every Tuesday from 2-6pm at 125 Napier St, at the Atherton Garden Reserve, next to the community gardens in the Atherton Garden housing estate.

The market is open to everyone, and claims to be 30% cheaper than supermarkets. Most of the produce comes from the wholesale market in Epping, with some herbs and greens coming from home gardens.
