Mina No Ie is a newish Japanese cafe from the owners of Cibi, which has been open for four years now and is also in Collingwood. I had lunch there with the girlfriend on a recent weekend and we liked it a lot. I had the massive miso soup with onigiri and she had the ‘complete’ plate, which is a kind of tasting plate of various dishes. The prawn and tofu patties are particularly delicious.

The coffee is excellent and cake is good too – I can’t resist matcha cake, the one below was made with matcha and white chocolate, and the chocolate and raspberry was good too. Mina No Ie is across the road from Aka Siro and near South of Johnston in the eastwards expansion of the Collingwood cafe scene beyond Smith St.
