The latest exhibition at Gorker gallery, ‘Lyrics and type’, opened last Friday night and runs until 17 October. The works are illustration and design oriented and feature typography with the words coming from song lyrics. I don’t think it is the strongest show Gorker has produced this year, but some of the works are quite intricate and worth seeing up close. The Gorker launches have become parties where the art seems circumstantial, with the crowd spilling out onto the footpath. There’s a great vibe, but if you want to see the work, it’s better to come at another time.

    was nice to go to see the show this afternoon – without the ginormous crowds the opening nite attracts. I agree it’s not the strongest show ever @ this space, but a few pieces really stood out. Wooden Toy always seem to be doing some interesting things…
