A mic in hand‘s special UK guest on the night of 4 December 2008 was Ross Noble, who was so funny several members of the audience nearly vomited with laughter. His rapid stream of consciousness banter incorporated midget pirates using the upstairs room at Vibe to spy on a pizza shop across the road while the room and its windows facing Smith st were used as a crematorium where coffins could be pushed out the windows and reduced to ash in mid air by rented demons that also set people’s genitals alight.

Somehow this transitioned into the idea that airline passengers should rub their buttocks with peri peri sauce before boarding so that if they die in a crash and survivors have to eat them they would already be marinated.

The other notable performer was the wonderful Geraldine Quinn, whose Sex Death Bowie show I sadly missed a couple of years ago and who I have been looking forward to seeing ever since. She performed two brilliant satirical songs – the first about the inanity of the Veronicas and the second about the nobility of bogans.
