Some time ago I recieved a note in my letterbox to tell me my narrow little street was being changed from timed free parking to timed paid parking. About two weeks ago workmen dug holes in the footpath. Then one evening I got home from work to find ticket machines in the footpath. Literally. The footpath is narrow and the ticket machines face the walls. They seem to have nothing on the back, and I wonder why they were not installed against the walls facing the street. They would be less of an obstruction that way and would also be easier to use.

Sight-impaired people use building lines to find their way, so alongside the boundary is not suited. I know it looks silly (stupid even), and while it’d be nice to bag the City of Yarra (for the blood-thirsty parasitic bastards that they are), there’s probably no better way of placing them, except perhaps sideways.

Having walked past that thing quite a few times in the last few days I can safely say that it is a ridiculous obstacle to put on a footpath. It’s far easier to walk down the road than the footpath.. which is not a good thing!
