I’ve been on a Spanish quest recently, eating at Spanish places in Sydney and Melbourne. The last place I tried was Kika Tapas on Victoria St in Darlinghurst, which has a loose Pedro Almodovar theme, with menus covered in pages from Spanish Vogue. It is garish, tacky and fun, just like an Almodovar film.
The food is fantastic, and the service is excellent. Kika has been well reviewed here. Here are some of the dishes. Below are the garlic mushrooms and the calamares, which were spicy with tumeric and a little chilli.
Choosing dessert was difficult. The menu contains advise as well as dishes:
Instead, I chose the churros, and a cafe Kika, which is a shot of espresso with a shot of caramel liquor. Divine!
